Synopsis
The starting point of Replay (bis) is the idea of rupture in a time and place that are undefined. The story, which might have been experienced or dreamt, is repeated in various forms. The images appear as reminiscences of the past, as well as attempts to reconstruct a narrative. These attempts make room for one final long shot: A view of Beirut today, at the time of the dusk prayer; as if this last image, inducing contemplation, had become my ultimate way of relating the story.
Replay (bis) a pour point de départ l’idée de rupture dans un temps et un lieu indéfinis. Ici l’histoire, dont on ne sait si elle a été vécue ou rêvée, prend forme à plusieurs reprises, laissant apparaitre les images comme les réminiscences d’un passé, mais aussi comme autant de tentatives de restituer un récit. Ces tentatives finissent par laisser place à un long plan fixe de Beyrouth au présent, le temps de la prière du crépuscule; comme si cette dernière image invoquant la contemplation, devenait mon ultime tentative de raconter cette histoire. |
